Canara Bank appoints Sunil Kumar Chugh as Executive Director

Canara Bank has named Shri Sunil Kumar Chugh as Executive Director with effect from twenty four November twenty twenty five for a term of three years. Prior to this elevation he served as Chief General Manager at Punjab National Bank where he helped steer multiple transformation programmes.

Chugh brings more than thirty years of experience across Indian banking. At Punjab National Bank he played a key role in driving digital, retail and corporate banking strategies while strengthening risk management, compliance and credit monitoring frameworks. His work in these areas has been widely recognised within the sector.

Before his stint at Punjab National Bank he led large corporate branches in Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Mumbai at the erstwhile Oriental Bank of Commerce and held responsibilities at the corporate office and several controlling offices. His background spans corporate credit, foreign exchange, recovery and resolution of stressed assets and credit monitoring, giving him a broad view of both growth and risk disciplines.

In its announcement Canara Bank said that Chugh track record in leading strategic initiatives will strengthen the leadership bench and support the bank ongoing growth trajectory. His appointment is expected to add further depth to the bank capabilities across corporate and retail segments.
