The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is gearing up to invite bids for Team India’s jersey sponsorship as uncertainty looms over Dream11, the current principal sponsor. This move comes in the wake of the government’s Online Gaming Bill 2025, which seeks to outlaw real money gaming platforms once it receives presidential assent.
Dream11, along with other major fantasy gaming operators such as MPL and Zupee, has already announced the shutdown of its real money gaming operations. As a result, BCCI is now evaluating its next steps to ensure compliance with the law while maintaining strong sponsorship partnerships for the Indian team.
At present, the Indian cricket team sports the Dream11 logo, but continuing the association could invite penalties once the law is formally enacted. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has stated that the board will carefully examine the law once it is officially notified before making a final decision.
Dream11 had replaced Byju’s as the principal sponsor in 2023 with a three-year deal worth 358 crore rupees. The arrangement included payments of three crore rupees for home matches and one crore rupees for away games.
With this deal now under threat, BCCI may look to close a new sponsorship deal before key tournaments like the Asia Cup, where India is scheduled to compete in the UAE from September 9.

Industry insiders believe that prominent brands such as Tata, Jio, Adani, and even new-age players like Zerodha could be in the race to become the next jersey sponsor. While cricket will remain the most lucrative property, experts note that any change in sponsorship will have a ripple effect on brand visibility and fan engagement.
This development highlights the larger impact of the real money gaming ban on Indian sports, where gaming firms had been some of the most aggressive sponsors in recent years. For BCCI, the upcoming bid process is not just about filling a logo space but about finding a long-term partner that aligns with the spirit of Indian cricket.
