A new experience for cinema lovers

The dine in cinema reflects PVR INOX’s belief that theatres can offer more than just films. It aims to turn every visit into an evening out that blends luxury seating, modern lighting and restaurant quality food. According to Aamer Bijli, lead director for marketing and innovation at PVR INOX Limited the idea is to give audiences a reason to step out in a world where OTT and other leisure options compete for attention.

“Today consumers have choices like recreational sports and fine dining. We wanted to merge those experiences so that those who love food can enjoy cinema in a new way,” said Bijli during the launch.

Elevated dining meets entertainment

The new format focuses heavily on food quality. Bijli noted that the company redesigned its food and beverage concept to include unique menu items like signature fries, hot dogs and local favorites that are exclusive to PVR INOX. The attention to taste and presentation helps create a premium environment that goes beyond the usual popcorn and soda experience.

Building on past innovation

PVR INOX has been a pioneer in introducing new cinema formats in India. In 2022 it launched the country’s first Director’s Cut theatre in Bengaluru offering a boutique luxury viewing experience. While the Director’s Cut focused on exclusivity the dine in cinema expands accessibility by catering to audiences seeking both comfort and culinary pleasure.

Bijli compared the two saying that the earlier format was centered on the movie itself while the new concept invites people to enjoy a meal and conversation with loved ones as part of their evening at the cinema.

More than movies

The new setup is designed to host not only films but also gaming sessions, comedy shows, corporate nights and live performances. The layout with comfortable seating and LED lighting allows the space to be converted for multiple experiences. Ticket pricing follows a dynamic model with a two seater table priced at ₹490 and a four seater at ₹990 accommodating up to seventy guests.

“The number felt most optimal as we did not want to compromise on comfort or sightlines,” added Bijli. “It is not just about watching a film anymore it is about spending time in a place that feels special.”

With this move PVR INOX continues to push the boundaries of what cinema can mean in India. By merging entertainment with fine dining the company has once again demonstrated its knack for anticipating lifestyle trends and delivering experiences that connect with modern consumers.
