Freshworks is doubling down on AI, and it just brought in a heavyweight to lead the charge. Venkat Venkataraman has joined the company as Vice President of Product for AI Platform and Strategy, bringing with him over twenty years of leadership experience at the intersection of artificial intelligence, enterprise engineering, and product development.

In his new role, Venkataraman will be spearheading Freshworks’ AI strategy, driving innovation across its suite of intelligent tools such as Freddy Copilot, AI Agents, and Insights. These products form the core of Freshworks’ AI vision, helping businesses automate support, gain smarter analytics, and deliver intuitive customer experiences at scale.

Venkataraman shared the news of his new position in a recent LinkedIn post. This move signals Freshworks’ continued focus on strengthening its AI stack as global demand for smarter, faster enterprise solutions grows.

Before joining Freshworks, Venkataraman was most recently a Strategic Advisor at ComplexChaos, a role he held from June 2024 to May 2025. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Engineering and AI at RingCentral, where he played a key role in scaling AI capabilities across product lines.

His resume reads like a roadmap of AI innovation across some of the most dynamic SaaS and tech companies of the last decade. At Hopin, he led engineering efforts and was instrumental in integrating major acquisitions like Attendify and Boomset. At Nielsen, he led Platform and Data Engineering. He also held key leadership roles at LiftIgniter, TokBox, CA Technologies, and BEA Systems. His tech career began at IBM, where he worked as a software engineer.

What makes Venkataraman’s appointment especially significant is not just his technical pedigree, but his track record of bringing structure and velocity to large-scale product initiatives. His arrival is expected to add momentum to Freshworks’ mission to make AI accessible, useful, and scalable for global businesses.

Freshworks has been investing steadily in building an AI-first product suite, and this leadership move reinforces that intent. With Freddy Copilot already being positioned as an assistant that enhances agent productivity, and AI Agents helping automate customer support across channels, the company is preparing to scale its AI infrastructure to new heights.

As businesses increasingly look to AI for real-time decision-making, intelligent automation, and faster response cycles, Freshworks is signaling that it wants to be at the forefront of that shift.
