Samsung Electronics has announced a series of senior leadership changes, appointing TM Roh as chief executive officer and head of the Device Experience division while he continues to lead the Mobile Experience business. The move reinforces his central role in shaping Samsung consumer device strategy across smartphones, televisions, appliances and connected experiences.
Roh new mandate places him at the top of the Device Experience organisation, which brings together multiple consumer product categories under one umbrella. By combining the leadership of the Mobile Experience unit with the broader division, Samsung aims to align hardware, software and services more tightly across its ecosystem.
Young Hyun Jun will continue as vice chairman, head of the Device Solutions division and co chief executive officer, maintaining continuity on the semiconductor and component side of the business.
Samsung also confirmed a refreshed technology leadership structure for the Device Experience division. Janghyun Yoon has been appointed president, chief technology officer of the Device Experience division and head of Samsung Research. Yoon previously served as chief executive officer of Samsung Venture Investment and has led work on software platforms, internet of things and Tizen development within the Mobile Experience business. His new role makes him responsible for long term research and core technology development that will power future consumer products.

In parallel, Hongkun Park has been named head of the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology. Park, a professor at Harvard University and a recognised researcher in nanoscience, quantum science and engineering, will guide foundational research in emerging technologies. This institute often seeds breakthroughs that later inform Samsung commercial products and platforms.
Taken together, the appointments signal Samsung intent to link its executive leadership, research engine and product units more tightly as it competes in areas such as artificial intelligence, connected devices and next generation displays. With TM Roh now leading the Device Experience division as chief executive officer and head, the company is betting on an integrated approach to hardware and software that can deliver more coherent consumer experiences across categories.
