The Godrej family, stewards of a long-standing conglomerate, recently announced a significant restructuring of their business interests. This change aims to sharpen strategic focus and operational agility.
New Business Alignment
Adi and Nadir Godrej will maintain control over Godrej Industries and its five publicly traded companies. Meanwhile, their cousins, Jamshyd and Smita Godrej, will take charge of the unlisted sector, Godrej & Boyce.
Goals of the Realignment
This restructuring is designed to streamline operations and enhance the creation of long-term value for stakeholders. It awaits approval from regulatory bodies before it can be fully implemented.
Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG)
Under the new arrangement, GEG will include Godrej & Boyce and its affiliates, covering a wide range of industries such as Aerospace, Aviation, and more. Leadership will be under Jamshyd Godrej and Nyrika Holkar.
Godrej Industries Group (GIG)
GIG will encompass all listed entities, like Godrej Consumer Products and Godrej Properties. Leadership transitions are planned, with Pirojsha Godrej set to take over as chairperson in August 2026.
Commitment to Legacy and Innovation
Both Jamshyd and Nadir Godrej expressed their commitment to the company’s foundational goals of innovation and community building. They aim to uphold the values of trust and community betterment instilled since the company's founding in 1897.
Both divisions will continue under the unified Godrej brand, focusing on their respective strengths while maintaining their shared heritage.
