As India prepares for the grand festive shopping season, Meesho has announced a remarkable move that is set to boost both employment and e-commerce readiness. The company has enabled over 12 lakh seasonal job opportunities across its vast seller and logistics network, marking a major 40 percent increase compared to last year. What makes this development even more significant is that more than 70 percent of these opportunities are coming from tier 3 and tier 4 regions, strengthening Meesho’s commitment to empowering smaller cities and towns.

This year, sellers on the platform have brought in approximately 5.5 lakh seasonal workers to support their growing operations. These workers are receiving short yet effective training sessions to prepare them for essential roles such as manufacturing, packaging, sorting, and inventory management. In addition to hiring, sellers have expanded their product ranges, curated festive collections, and introduced new categories to meet the rising demand that accompanies the festive rush.

On the logistics front, Meesho has partnered with leading third party logistics providers along with Valmo, creating about 6.7 lakh seasonal opportunities in roles ranging from first mile and middle mile support to delivery associates. These jobs cover critical areas such as picking, sorting, loading, unloading, and handling returns. The logistics side alone represents nearly 90 percent growth compared to last year’s festive hiring, demonstrating the scale at which Meesho is preparing to serve customers.

Speaking about this expansion, Sourabh Pandey, CXO of Fulfilment and Experience at Meesho, emphasized that the festive season is a period when countless Indian households place their trust in e-commerce. With that trust comes the responsibility of ensuring smooth seller readiness and seamless logistics at an unprecedented scale. By focusing heavily on India’s smaller towns and empowering local businesses, Meesho is staying true to its mission of making e-commerce inclusive and accessible.

This surge in seasonal employment is not just about meeting customer demand. It is also about creating new opportunities for small businesses, local manufacturers, and logistics workers. For many families in tier 3 and tier 4 regions, these temporary jobs provide crucial income and skills that can create long term benefits beyond the festive season.

As India’s most vibrant shopping period approaches, Meesho’s efforts reflect how e-commerce is becoming a driver of both convenience for customers and employment for millions. By offering affordable products, scaling up logistics, and enabling small businesses, the platform continues to shape the way Indians shop while empowering communities across the country.
