On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Shree Cement has turned remembrance into action with its heartfelt initiative, Project Naman. The company, one of India’s largest cement producers, has extended this tribute to honor the ultimate sacrifices made by the brave men and women of the Indian Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces. More than a corporate gesture, Project Naman is a promise to stand with the families left behind, ensuring they have the foundation to rebuild not just homes, but futures.

Conceptualized by Shri H.M. Bangur, Chairman of Shree Cement, this initiative reflects a rare blend of empathy and purpose. Project Naman offers free cement to the families of soldiers who lost their lives in service to the nation. It is a gesture rooted in the belief that a home is not just a structure, but a symbol of dignity, security and healing. With this simple yet powerful idea, the company has committed itself to creating something meaningful for the families of the martyrs.

Since its launch in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence and the Kendriya Sainik Board in 2020, the project has made measurable impact. As of July 2025, it has supported 183 families from forces including the Army, BSF, CRPF and Assam Rifles, releasing over 79,000 cement bags to help build homes and futures. Applications from 266 families have been received so far, showing the scale and sincerity of the effort.

What makes this initiative even more remarkable is its reach into the past. The scheme covers fatal casualties that occurred between January 1, 1999, and January 1, 2019. This ensures that even those sacrifices that time might have faded from public memory are acknowledged and honored with the same respect and gratitude.

Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director of Shree Cement, expressed the emotion behind the mission clearly. He said a home is much more than a roof. It is the starting point for healing and hope. Through Project Naman, Shree Cement wants to offer not just material support but a message that the nation remembers and stands with its heroes, even when the war is over.

As India reflects on the courage of those who defended the country in Kargil and beyond, Shree Cement reminds us that honoring their legacy means more than words. It means action that uplifts the lives of their loved ones. Project Naman is that action, building dreams from the bricks of remembrance.
