What does the sustainable cab-hailing service BLUSmart & Tata Power have in common?

Both are committed to the country's leap towards smart mobility solutions that are environment-friendly.

So in a move that is a win-win for both their visions, they have partnered up to enhance their efforts towards decarbonisation.

What is the partnership all about?

TPTCL would purchase 30 MW of green power under this deal from Tata Power's large 200 MW solar PV facility located in the Bikaner area of Rajasthan. BluSmart wants to accomplish its sustainability goals and save energy expenditures by utilising TPTCL's Category-I Trading Licence.

Through this agreement, BluSmart can completely remove Scope 2 emissions from its vast EV charging infrastructure, a major step towards becoming an emissions-free corporation. The Green Energy Open Access Rule enables this.

What are Green Energy Open Access Rules?

There were guidelines released in 2022 that want to encourage using clean energy and provide 'open access' to sharing these sources across the platforms.

Green Open Access Registry is like a clear window where everyone can see what's happening with clean energy. This registry helps manage the sharing of clean energy via short, medium and long ventures. It helps keep track of different agreements across the country.

What makes this partnership important?

Since its launch, BluSmart has driven 400 million all-electric kilometres and saved 30 million kg of CO2 thanks to its fleet of over 6,000 BluSmart EVs and 4,000 EV chargers throughout Bangalore and Delhi NCR. BluSmart's partnership with Tata Power Trading Corporation further proves its commitment to fully decarbonising mobility at scale.

BluSmart's co-founder, Punit Goyal, highlights the importance of this partnership in reducing the impact of climate change and becoming an emissions-free company. The CEO of Tata Power Trading Company, Tarun Katiyar, reiterates his dedication to encouraging the use of sustainable energy.

A major step towards a cleaner, greener future, BluSmart's goal of sustainable transportation is well aligned with its pursuit of 100% renewable energy, backed by TATA's experience.
