Amul Brings Relief to Consumers

Amul, India’s most loved dairy brand, has announced a sweeping price revision across its product portfolio to pass on the full benefit of the GST reduction. Starting September 22, over 700 products will be available at lower prices, making everyday essentials like butter, milk, cheese, and ghee more affordable for millions of households.

For example, the price of the iconic 100 gram pack of Amul Butter has dropped to Rs 58 from Rs 62, while a litre of Amul Ghee now costs Rs 610 compared to Rs 650 earlier. UHT milk too has been revised to Rs 75 per litre, down from Rs 77. Similar cuts have been applied across chocolates, paneer, and ice creams.

Supporting Farmers and Customers Alike

Amul has always prided itself on being a brand that not only serves consumers but also empowers farmers. Owned by 36 lakh farmers under the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, the company’s decision ensures that more of the consumer’s money flows back to the producers. By lowering prices, Amul expects a significant boost in demand for categories like ice cream, cheese, and butter where India’s per capita consumption remains below global averages.

The brand has also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementing GST reforms that have directly impacted nutrition affordability in India. By reducing costs on daily essentials, Amul is ensuring that quality dairy products remain within the reach of every family.

Communicating Change Across India

The revised price list has already been communicated to distributors, Amul Parlours, and retailers nationwide. This means customers across metros, towns, and villages will be able to enjoy the new lower prices starting immediately. Industry experts believe this move will not only expand Amul’s consumer base but also strengthen loyalty among existing customers who already trust the brand for its quality and value.

Setting a Benchmark in FMCG

Amul’s proactive step follows similar announcements from FMCG giants like Hindustan Unilever and L’Oréal, both of which have passed on GST savings to customers. However, given Amul’s massive portfolio and household presence, the scale of this price cut stands out as one of the largest consumer relief measures in the food industry.

A Win for India’s Dairy Story

By reducing prices without compromising on quality, Amul has reinforced its role as the people’s brand. It continues to embody the values of affordability, accessibility, and trust while supporting the livelihood of farmers. With this move, Amul is not just making dairy products more affordable, it is also strengthening the bond between India’s consumers and producers.
